Posted on February 4, 2013October 10, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Day 55Weight: 177.6
AM Ketones: 1.2
AM Blood Glucose: 80
Hours of Sleep: 6:29
Energy Level: Good
Physical Activity: Incline walking
Nutritional Ketosis Streak: 1

Another new low in my weight!  Also I’m not sure how to explain the jump in ketones.  It probably reflects mainly my increased fat intake and decreased carbs yesterday.  I don’t really think my light activity actually had much effect… but who knows.. maybe it did.

Macros today weren’t too different.  Had more Oxtail broth!

Did some incline walking today which I think should have a greater effect than what I did yesterday.  … Read More

AM Blood Glucose: 81
Hours of Sleep: 6:45
Energy Level: Good
Physical Activity: None
Nutritional Ketosis Streak: 27 days

Still hanging in there.  Spent all day traveling back from Indianapolis.  Learned a lot of interesting things about my body and certain asymmetries that I’ll have to dedicate a separate post on.  Also have a good thought for another concurrent n=1 experiment using what I learned in Indy.

Lost my food data today too… for some reason being on the road screwed it all up.  … Read More

Day 51 – Nutritional Ketosis

Posted on January 31, 2013October 10, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Day 51Weight: 178.2
AM Ketones: 0.6
AM Blood Glucose: 86
Hours of Sleep: 6:59
Energy Level: Good
Physical Activity: Light jogging x 20 min
Nutritional Ketosis Streak: 25 days

I guess my BJJ yesterday and good eating didn’t raise my ketones as much as I expected.  I’m still wondering if the lack of sleep these past couple days along with the increased personal stress is screwing me up.

I’m going to consciously try to really limit my protein now as well to around 80-100 grams now to see if this is the reason I’m not seeing the high ketone levels that others are.… Read More

AM Ketones: 0.5
AM Blood Glucose: 85
Hours of Sleep: 5:38
Energy Level: Good
Physical Activity: BJJ
Nutritional Ketosis Streak: 24 days

Still barely hanging in there.  I’m scared to imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t do a little bit of exercise last nite… I definitely would have fell out of ketosis!

My sleep hasn’t been very good these past two nights because of some personal stuff going on.  I wonder if the stress I’m under coupled with the lack of sleep caused a spike in my cortisol (a stress hormone).  … Read More
