Her Body io Notes Part 1

Her Body io notes part 1

Kiefer recently launched a series of podcasts focused on women hosted by Andrea Jengle (AJ) and Alex Navarro, both of whom were former clients of Kiefer’s and are now coaches in his Body IO Coaching program.

Alex along with Mary Gines, authored a series of cookbooks published under Body IO:

  • Transforming Recipes: Ultra Low-Carb Edition
  • Transforming Recipes: Ultra Low-Carb Desserts
  • Transforming Recipes: Done in One

AJ can be found on her website at HERfitnesssolutions.com

Since people seemed to find my prior notes helpful, I thought that it’d be a good idea to put my notes from all of these shows together in one place. … Read More

Thoughts on Jimmy Moore’s Summer 2015 Health Test Results

Jimmy Moore Summer 2015

Jimmy Moore, author of the books Cholesterol Clarity and Keto Clarity (both of which I’ve reviewed here and here), and champion of all things keto just posted his most recent health test results and and even shared his personal consultation with Christopher Kelly, a Certified Functional Diagnostic Practitioner where they discussed the results.

Jimmy last shared his health tests this past fall and I had a few thoughts on his results then.  I know Jimmy gets a lot of hate online, but say what you will, the guy is as open as a book. … Read More

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Women’s Self Defense

BJJ and Womens Self Defense
One of the reasons I became so interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) was because of how powerful it can be.  It emphasizes technique and leverage to neutralize an opponents size and strength.  These techniques can be especially important for women.
Just last week there was a story about a woman who successfully fended off a sexual assault by utilizing standard BJJ techniques.  She held onto the choke long enough to render him unconscious so that she could free herself and seek help, all while he was between her legs.

How I Finally Fixed My Sleep Issues as a Shift Worker

Shift Work Sleep Issues 1

I’ve been working as a shift worker since August 2012.  At first I worked a second shift, which began at 1pm and ended at 10 or 11 pm.  This meant that by the time I got home and showered, I didn’t get to bed until around 2-3 am.  I actually found that I didn’t have too much trouble adjusting to this schedule, since it was almost like being back in college!

After a year, my schedule was changed to an overnight shift.  I worked either 7pm to 7 am or 4pm to 4 am. … Read More

Review of Metamoris All Access

Posted on May 7, 2015May 7, 2015 by BJJ Caveman

Metamoris All Access 0

I’ve been a fan and supporter of Metamoris ever since it began back in 2013 and have paid to live stream all 5 Metamoris events.

While I know that somehow the matches are pirated and find their way onto youtube almost immediately after it’s done broadcasting, I still feel compelled to support them.  The bigger they get, the better it is for everyone in the jiu-jitsu community, so I’m more than happy to do my small part.

They released released a subscription based, on demand feature called Metamoris All Access, with hours of new and old content.… Read More

Injury-Proofing My Body Part 1

Injury-proofing my body part 1

I work in the health care field and see the consequences of injuries every single workday. This makes me hyper-aware and probably a little too paranoid of certain things.  As a direct result of things I’ve witnessed:

  • I refuse to ride motorcycles or ATVs.
  • I always wear a helmet and wrist guards when snowboarding
  • I never listen to headphones when jogging in the vicinity of cars.
  • I will never climb a ladder to put up Christmas lights (also I don’t like heights)
  • I have an irrational fear of chain saws and buzz saws
  • I refuse to mountain bike

As readers of this blog know, I’m also fairly active and like to play basketball, weight-lift, Crossfit, and of course train BJJ. … Read More
