More Carb Nite and Carb Back-Loading Tips Part 5

Posted on December 8, 2014February 18, 2015 by BJJ Caveman

More Carb Night and Carb Backloading Tips Part 5a In an effort to stay up to date with all of Kiefer’s prolific work, here is the next series of notes I’ve taken. This is the fourth edition of my Kiefer notes.  Again some of these are from his own site, Body.io and some from when he appears as a guest on other podcasts. For those that don’t know, Kiefer is the author of both The Carb Nite Solution and Carb Back-Loading, both ways of eating that I’ve been playing around with recently.  Here is the official link to all of his guest appearances.

Thoughts on Jimmy Moore's Latest Health Test Results

Jimmy Moore recently published his blood work obtained during the fall of 2014.  I’m truly appreciative of Jimmy’s willingness to publish information as honestly and transparently as possible, and I use him as a model for publishing my own data.

I’m particularly interested in Jimmy’s test results because like me, he too is someone who has developed stratospheric cholesterol levels while in ketosis.  This has been a topic of great interest to me lately for obvious personal reasons and I’m doing my best to find as much information on this little known subject as possible, most recently exploring the thoughts of Dr.… Read More

Keto Clarity – Book Review

Posted on November 12, 2014November 13, 2016 by BJJ Caveman

BJJ Caveman Keto Clarity Book Review DISCLOSURE: I’ve said this a few times before, but I’ll say it again.  While I don’t know him personally, I like Jimmy Moore.  He’s been a supporter of my site and has personally answered every single tweet and e-mail I’ve sent him.  He was also the inspiration behind my ketogenic n=1 experiments.  I pretty much just copied his n=1 nutritional ketosis experiment when I first read about it. If you’ve been following me at all you’ll know that I’m a big fan of ketogenic diets and have experimented with the different variations:

  • strict ketogenic diet (Nutritional Ketosis)
  • cyclic ketogenic diet (Carb Nite)
  • targeted ketogenic diet (Carb Back-Loading)

After all of these experiments, I can say confidently that I’ve learned a lot more about everything ketogenic.  … Read More

Robb Wolf’s BJJ Training Regimen

Posted on November 7, 2014November 2, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Robb Wolf Ripped2Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution (here is my review), podcaster, BJJ blue belt, and one of the founding father’s of Paleo recently wrote a long and thorough post about what his current training is like at the age of 42 with a goal of competing in the BJJ Worlds eventually.

Given my interest in BJJ and nutrition and paleo, this post piqued my interest on just about all fronts.

From the looks of it, whatever the hell he’s doing is working because holy shit is he ripped!… Read More

Carb Nite Redux Week 1

Carb Night Redux Week 1

Introduction

Exactly 1 year ago I had just come across Kiefer’s Carb Nite and was so inspired that I designed an n=1 experiment and followed it for 10 weeks.  When I began the experiment I weighed 185.6 lbs and my abdominal circumference measured 35.5 inches.  At the end of the 10 weeks I weighed 184 lbs and my abdominal circumference was 33.75 inches.

A few months later I devoured Kiefer’s Carb Back-Loading 1.0 and again was so inspired that I adopted it for 14 weeks. … Read More
