Lake Plitvice

Lake Plitvice, Croatia – There were so many beautiful streams and waterfalls here.  The wooden walkways wood often times course right on top of the water, with some occasional splashes that would come up and drench your shoes.  It was definitely a sight to behold.  Unfortunately when we went the entire place was shrouded in mist so we didn’t get a clear view of all the breathtaking cascades it’s famous for… this means we’ll just have to go back!

  1. Even the Huffington Post is getting in on the importance of sleep… things are really hitting the main stream.

Robb Wolf’s BJJ Training Regimen

Posted on November 7, 2014November 2, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Robb Wolf Ripped2Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution (here is my review), podcaster, BJJ blue belt, and one of the founding father’s of Paleo recently wrote a long and thorough post about what his current training is like at the age of 42 with a goal of competing in the BJJ Worlds eventually.

Given my interest in BJJ and nutrition and paleo, this post piqued my interest on just about all fronts.

From the looks of it, whatever the hell he’s doing is working because holy shit is he ripped!… Read More

Carb Night Redux Week 1

Introduction

Exactly 1 year ago I had just come across Kiefer’s Carb Nite and was so inspired that I designed an n=1 experiment and followed it for 10 weeks.  When I began the experiment I weighed 185.6 lbs and my abdominal circumference measured 35.5 inches.  At the end of the 10 weeks I weighed 184 lbs and my abdominal circumference was 33.75 inches.

A few months later I devoured Kiefer’s Carb Back-Loading 1.0 and again was so inspired that I adopted it for 14 weeks. … Read More

Carb Nite Redux Preface

Following my embarrassing and poorly executed Carb Nite / Carb Back-Loading experiment this June and July where I actually ended up fatter at the conclusion of the experiment than when I started, the BJJ Cavewife and I did a little bit of traveling to Germany and Croatia (I’ve been sneaking travel pictures into my Random Reading Posts).

While travel is a great opportunity to see the world, experience different cultures, and broaden horizons… it’s frankly terrible for weight loss.  Of course I ended up putting on a few extra pounds at the end of this trip.… Read More

BJJ Caveman Random reading November 2 2014

The Neuschwanstein Castle, along the Romantic Road in Germany.  This was the castle that served as the inspiration for the castle in Disney’s The Sleeping Beauty.

  1. It looks like the act of writing can produce some amazing benefits like improved wound healing… I wonder if this translates into blogging?
  2. I think if I could move to a village I definitely would… although at this point in my life I think the first question I would ask once I got there would be, “What’s the WIFI password?”

Favorite Tools

Just wanted to introduce two new pages that I added to this site, both of which will be continued works in progress.

The ‘Start Here‘ page is meant for the absolute beginner.  It’s a collection of posts I’ve written that I think will really help to orient the newbie.  If you want a better understanding of ketones, ketosis, biochemistry, macronutrients and more this will be the place to look.

The ‘Favorite Tools‘ page is a collection of all of my favorite resources (including supplements, gadgets, and books) that I think may be useful to you. … Read More
