Day 24 – Nutritional Ketosis

Posted on January 5, 2013October 10, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Day 24Weight:
AM Ketones:
AM Blood Glucose: 93
Hours of Sleep: 9:24
Energy Level: Excellent!
Physical Activity: BJJ

Had a perfect ketogenic diet today.  Minimal carbs, medium amount of protein, and lots of fat!  This coupled along with my great BJJ session at Marcelo’s should hopefully get my body prepped to resume being in nutritional ketosis.

Unfortunately my ketone sticks were left with our leasing office rather than in my mailbox so I couldn’t check my ketones this evening.  Guess what the first thing I’m going to do tomorrow is?  I’m sprinting down to our leasing office to get my hands on those ketone strips!  It’s been 5 days since my last check and I’m getting antsy!

My AM glucose of 93 is the highest it’s been since I started tracking on 2 weeks ago.  This leads me to suspect that I’m for sure out of ketosis and am using carbs as the primary source of fuel.  Once I get those strips I can confirm this.  I also suspect that I am one of those people who are prone to carbohydrate intolerance that Volek and Phinney describe.  Will have to do a post on this soon.

I’ll guestimate that my ketones will be around 0.2 mmol when I check tomorrow.  Hopefully it won’t take too much time to get me back into nutritional ketosis.

I’m also experimenting with the images of my meals that I post, so things will be all over the place for a while.
