BJJ Open Mat

Posted on December 28, 2012January 8, 2017 by BJJ Caveman

This past Saturday, the first thing I did after waking up was go to a BJJ open mat, always a good way to start the day.  Had some good rolls with a black belt, purple belt, and 4 stripe blue belt.  I felt like I started moving better and was able to put up a reasonable fight before ultimately getting tapped out.

Also I didn’t get caught in any triangles so that was another positive since that is one of the things I’m trying to be more cognizant of as I train.  Need to kick the annoying habit of leaving one arm in and one arm out as I’m passing the guard, setting me up for a triangle.

Another thing that I successfully attempted was employing the double leg guard pass I just reviewed a few days ago.  It’s always a positive feeling to be able to apply a lesson or concept that I just learned.
