My First Post

Posted on December 12, 2012January 8, 2017 by BJJ Caveman

I wanted to start this site to cover to very two big interests of mine: BJJ and the paleo lifestyle.

I currently have a blue belt in BJJ, which I received under Rigan Machado.

Unfortunately my schedule now is kind of wacky.   Since my job has me traveling quite often, I don’t really get to train anywhere regularly.  Instead I bounce around schools, depending on where I am.  I’ve trained in Los Angeles, Cleveland, Florianopolis Brazil, New York and Maui thus far.

I wanted to create this as a way to document observations and thoughts I had regarding my BJJ training.

Regarding being paleo, I’ve struggled with weight my entire life.  My maximum weight was around 215 lbs, and I’m currently 185 lbs after following Tim Ferriss’ Slow Carb diet from his book, “The Four Hour Body.”  The slow carb diet and paleo diet are very similar, and I’ve found myself slowly migrating towards the paleo end of the spectrum after more research.

I intend this to be a forum for me to discuss the things I’m learning and the ideas I’m toying with in regards to optimizing my health.  I also will do my best to document small self-experiments.
