David Boehme

Dave BoehmeThis is one of the instructors I’ve been working with, David Boehme, a brown belt who trained under Megaton.

He is a super nice guy and always willing to help.  It’s good to train with him because he knows when to go hard and go soft, so that I’m not always being smashed and can actually walk away learning something.

He’s also around my height and my size which also facilitates the learning process.

2. Place both hands on his abdomen, open my left knee out, turn my head to the left to get some breathing room, and then push with both hands, and at same time try to retract head back and up, in order to release head.… Read More

1. Old school – including running around the mats, switching to side to side skipping, jumping, running backwards etc.

2. Gracie Barra – perform a series of squats, pushups, and jumping jacks, followed by some ab work.

I personally prefer the old school method because I feel like it does a better job of warming up my body.… Read More

Good BJJ session this morning.  I’ve been working on escapes lately.  Reviewed the mount escapes we worked on last week including:

1. Using my arms to frame against their hips, followed by hip bump, hip escape, and pull guard.  We went over the variations in arm position afterwards.  If I’m first shrimping my butt out to my right and bringing my left knee up to my left elbow, Dave, prefers to go for the underhook using the right hand and then use the left hand to block the opponents left bicep to prevent the cross-face.  … Read More
