Links I Wanted to Share

Posted on August 21, 2013October 9, 2014 by BJJ Caveman

Despite my not posting very much lately, I’m still reading as much as I can to stay on top of things.  Here are links to a few articles that caught my attention.

This is a very powerful and poignant open apology from a women’s health coach who worked for a diet/weight loss company.  As we know calories are only a small part of the whole picture and it’s good to see that others are starting to come around too.

Jimmy Moore had a recent post about one of his readers who had improved cholesterol numbers (Total Cholesterol 230 -> 187 and LDL-C 113 -> 72) after she went low carb high fat.  This really illustrates how variable our bodies can respond to a ketogenic diet particularly with respect to serum cholesterol.  Some people have no change, some get worse, and some get better.  I’m glad to see this person had numbers that improved!

The FDA is starting to regulate the term gluten free, “setting a gluten limit of less than 20 ppm (parts per million) in foods that carry this label.”  Hopefully this will prevent companies from falsely advertising in the future.

The apology from the health coach seems heart-felt. What is her current advice, other than vilifying gluten and low-cal?
She touts herself as ‘past life regression specialist’. Isn’t that quackery?

That was something I wish she went into more depth about, especially what diet she recommends now. Reading between the lines would suggest she’s more paleo or primal… but that may be reading too into it.

and I have no clue what a past life regression specialist is.
