In my recent blood test from September I also checked my Vitamin D level. Because my job involves working indoors, at a desk, in front of a computer for 10 hours a day, it’s rare for me to get much sun exposure. Sometimes I’ll sneak out for a coffee run or something, but even then only my face and hands will be exposed since I typically wear a dress shirt, and the walk to the coffee shop only takes 5-10 minutes. We’re talking minimal exposure at most.… Read More

Testosterone Update September 2016
Along with testing my cholesterol and HbA1c after 15 days of the Whole 30, I also checked my testosterone levels. It’s something I’ve checked in the past maybe once a year just to get a sense as to where I stood.
Here are my prior posts:
Nutritional Ketosis and Testosterone

My Health Test Results from March 2015
I’ve tried to search for other good resrouces on testosterone testing and results, but haven’t found anything better than the Art of Manliness series I referred to in my first post. … Read More
HbA1c Update September 2016: I finally figured it out!
Since the beginning of my career documenting my self experimentation on this blog I’ve been dealing with a borderling elevated HbA1c.
Here’s the first post on my HbA1c from March 2013 while doing my ketosis experiment:
The Effect of Nutritional Ketosis on HbA1c

Cholesterol Update September 2016
It’s been about 6 months since I last checked my cholesterol and I’ve had a few readers ask me how my numbers look. Before I jump into what the results are I thought it might be helpful, especially to new readers, to detail a little bit about where I’ve come from, and what I’ve been doing in the mean time.
I’ve written quite extensively on my cholesterol history and some of the research I’ve done on the subject throughout my blog. Here’s a link to everything I’ve written on cholesterol thus far.… Read More
uBiome Results from April 2016
Back in April I submitted my first uBiome sample and after approximately 3 weeks I got the results back. Here are the results from that sample.
My knowledge in this area is pretty rudimentary, so there’s not much insight I can offer, so I’ll just go ahead and show you what my results are and the recommendations that were provided.
Of course uBiome makes sure that you click on a statement acknowledging that none of the statements made have been evaluated by the FDA and that the results aren’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.… Read More
MyPerioPath 8 Month Followup
This past March I referenced a study linking gum disease to Alzheimer’s and concluded that I would just go ahead and get a followup MyPerioPath test done again.
I first came across MyPerioPath when I was exploring the links between gum disease, high cholesterol, and an elevated Lp-PLA2. As a quick review, the MyPerioPath test is a way to sample the DNA of the oral biome. It’s a painless test. Go to the dentist, swish around some saline solution in your mouth for 30 seconds, and spit it out into a test tube. … Read More
