Peter Attia on Lifespan and Healthspan

Dr. Peter Attia is someone I’ve followed ever since I started blogging.  He was an early champion of the ketogenic diet and wrote a 10 part series on cholesterol that served as the foundation of much of my cholesterol knowledge.

He’s eloquent and intelligent and thoughtful and whenever he surfaces on a podcast (it’s too bad he doesn’t have one of his own), I make the time to listen to what he has to say.

So when he popped up in an investing podcast that I’d never heard of before, The Investors Field Guide, I downloaded it and got to taking notes.

My 2017 Black Friday Haul

It’s now the week after Christmas and I’m still reeling from all the shopping we did on Black Friday.  I just wanted to share some of the stuff that we picked up especially since I plan on doing more in depth reviews on a few of these items in the future.

I’m not a big shopper.  In fact I really don’t enjoy shopping and don’t buy many things.

Usually when I want to buy something like a supplement or health gadget or BJJ DVD I would just go ahead and buy it.… Read More

A Better Way to Grow Broccoli Sprouts

It’s been a few months since I first learned about the benefits of broccoli sprouts after listening to Rhonda Patrick’s master class on the subject as well her interview with Dr. Fahey from Johns Hopkins University.

I’ve done quite a bit of sprouting in the mean time and have tweaked my technique to maximize my broccoli sprout yield and I wanted to share the things that I’ve learned along the way.

Firstly, I need to rescind my positive review of the Easy Sprout. They worked out well for the first few batches I grew and then things took a turn for the worse.… Read More

Rhonda Patrick Talks Broccoli Sprouts with Dr. Fahey from Johns Hopkins University

As a nice companion to Rhonda Patrick’s first video on broccoli sprouts and sulforaphane she interviews Jed W. Fahey who is the Director of the Cullman Chemoprotection Center at Johns Hopkins Medical School, where he’s actively involved in ongoing research on broccoli sprouts, sulforaphane, and other plant based chemicals.

You can tell by the way he talks that he has a deep understanding of everything broccoli sprout related, especially since he was literally involved in much of the research.  A quick search on PubMed shows that he has 79 publications with the earliest paper from 1980 to the most recent one published this past June 2017.… Read More

Boost Your Testosterone With This Grocery List

[Alex at put together this easy to follow infographic describing foods to eat to maximize the body’s natural production of testosterone.  This is actually a great complement to the Low Testosterone Infographic that I posted in May.  I have to admit that I was surprised to see ‘mint’  in the “Forget It” category.  I guess that means no more mojitos for me!]

Anabolic Health – The Manly Grocery List

Men are defined by their testosterone levels. While you may think being young equates to having good levels, you would be dead wrong.… Read More

How I Got Burned By Crowdfunding… TWICE!

I remember when the idea of crowdfunding first became popular.  I’d browse the pages of Kickstarter and Indiegogo and marvel at the amazing products people were developing, but was always hesitant about taking the plunge because I was never sure any of the products would actually make it into existence… until these two times.

Cautionary Tale #1 – AVAcore RTX Glove

I first heard of this technology in 2012 when I read this article on Gizmodo.  I knew that athletes used ice and ice baths and cryotherapy to aid in recovery, so the idea that similar results could be achieved in something as portable as a glove was mind blowing.… Read More
