Jimmy Moore, author of the books Cholesterol Clarity and Keto Clarity (both of which I’ve reviewed here and here), and champion of all things keto just posted his most recent health test results and and even shared his personal consultation with Christopher Kelly, a Certified Functional Diagnostic Practitioner where they discussed the results.

I’ve been working as a shift worker since August 2012.  At first I worked a second shift, which began at 1pm and ended at 10 or 11 pm.  This meant that by the time I got home and showered, I didn’t get to bed until around 2-3 am.  I actually found that I didn’t have too much trouble adjusting to this schedule, since it was almost like being back in college!

After a year, my schedule was changed to an overnight shift.  I worked either 7pm to 7 am or 4pm to 4 am.  I found that my body had a really hard time adjusting to this.  While I never had a problem falling asleep, my biggest issues was that my body would wake up on it’s own way too early!  On a good night, I could get 6.5 hours of sleep.  On a bad night I’d only get 4 hours of sleep.  This was something we discussed on my appearance on the Health Nuts Anonymous podcast.Read More

I’ve been a fan and supporter of Metamoris ever since it began back in 2013 and have paid to live stream all 5 Metamoris events.

While I know that somehow the matches are pirated and find their way onto youtube almost immediately after it’s done broadcasting, I still feel compelled to support them.  The bigger they get, the better it is for everyone in the jiu-jitsu community, so I’m more than happy to do my small part.

Injury-proofing my body part 1

I work in the health care field and see the consequences of injuries every single workday. This makes me hyper-aware and probably a little too paranoid of certain things.  As a direct result of things I’ve witnessed:

  • I refuse to ride motorcycles or ATVs.
  • I always wear a helmet and wrist guards when snowboarding
  • I never listen to headphones when jogging in the vicinity of cars.
  • I will never climb a ladder to put up Christmas lights (also I don’t like heights)
  • I have an irrational fear of chain saws and buzz saws
  • I refuse to mountain bike

As readers of this blog know, I’m also fairly active and like to play basketball, weight-lift, Crossfit, and of course train BJJ.  I’ve done these things long enough and bone headed enough so that I’ve suffered my share of injuries like ankle sprains, muscle strains, tendinitis, and various tweaks of this thing and that thing.… Read More
